Passport information:

An ordinary Nepali Passport is valid for 10 years and is not renewable. Passport holders are required to apply for a new passport before its expiration, but not earlier than six months. However, in case of accidental damage of the passport or use of all the pages meant for visa, one could apply for a new passport any time (

Requirements
:

·     Two duly filled in passport forms (use BLOCK LETTERS).

·     Four identical most recent passport size photographs (please affix two photographs in the forms).

·     Old passport and Citizenship Certificate in originals and their copies. 


If a valid passport is lost, a police report must be obtained and submitted along with application forms.  If need be, the Embassy may verify the statement made by the applicant with the Nepalese as well as local authorities before issuing a new passport in lieu of the lost one.


If the applicants are not present in the Embassy to obtain passports, they may send application forms by mail and pay the postal charge. They may wish to send self-addressed paid envelop to the Embassy along with passport related documents to receive their passports back from the Embassy.  


Passport fee is AUD$ 120 (Australian dollars) which can be sent through money order in favour of the “Embassy of Nepal, Canberra”. The passport fee, which is fixed in local currency, is subject to review from time to time.

Alternately, the above amount can be directly transferred to the Embassy’s account as indicated below:

For those who are willing to use this option should mention their name in the money transfer slip as reference and send the copy of the transfer slip to the Embassy along with passport application forms and other related documents.


Nepalese living in New Zealand can also send an additional amount of Australian dollar 18.05 as postal charge to return their passport through registered mail. They can choose any option that is convenient to them. Sending money order of the above amount drawn in the name of the Embassy or transferring the above amount to Embassy’s bank account mentioned above. With the inclusion of postal charge the total amount would be  Australian dollars 138.05


The Embassy will not accept personal cheque.

Passports are normally issued within three days of the receipt of the application forms provided all requirements are duly met.
